Event Overview

The Victorian Government has convened an expert panel chaired by the Commissioner for Better Regulation, Anna Cronin to undertake a comprehensive review of Victoria’s building system.

Join Anna and industry stakeholders to explore:

  • Undertaking reform of the building system – what is being done and what options are being considered?
  • What does a modern, effective, efficient regulatory framework for the building system look like? What are the major issues and reform suggestions that are being considered for Victoria’s building system?

This briefing is by invitation only to CEDA Trustees. Trustees are senior leaders nominated by CEDA member organisations. At CEDA boardroom briefings Trustees hear from an informed, expert guest speaker in a private, small group setting. Invitations to boardroom briefings are a valued benefit of CEDA membership. Chatham House Rule applies.


Meet the speaker

Anna Cronin
Commissioner for Better Regulation and Red Tape Commissioner, Better Regulation Victoria

Anna is Victoria's first Commissioner for Better Regulation, appointed by the Victorian Government in 2015. She was given the additional role of Red Tape Commissioner in 2018. Anna has worked in economist, executive and leadership roles in Commonwealth and State governments. Anna has considerable experience in regulatory issues across many policy areas, including in agricultural and mining regulatory and approvals frameworks. She has also held a number of board positions in the government and not for profit sectors.

Meet the host

Brendan Pope
Head of Design and Innovation, Fleetwood

Brendan has more than 15 years’ experience working within the design and construction industry with offsite construction expertise developed over the last 10 years. Prior to that he spent seven years working for a Melbourne based architectural practice in the capacity of Project Architect, Interiors Operations Manager and company QA Manager. During this time he was responsible for delivering local and international commissions, including India and the USA. Brendan’s design works and experience cover a variety of market sectors, from retail and commercial through to education. His skills are complimented by a degree in Landscape Architecture, providing a holistic approach to design.

Trustee event advice - Coronavirus

We at CEDA are proud to regularly convene and engage speakers and audiences as an essential element of our efforts to broaden discussion and debate of the most important policy issues facing Australia. In doing so, our first priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff.

CEDA is currently running Trustee roundtable discussions virtually and face-to-face where there is member demand and they can be delivered in accordance with government health advice for a specific state.

For face-to-face roundtables, CEDA is working closely with our hosts and venues to ensure that social distancing can be maintained and facilities and equipment have been properly sanitised.

In line with government advice we request people that are unwell with cough or fever or other respiratory symptoms do not attend CEDA events. We also ask that you follow government advice and maintain social distancing by refraining from shaking hands or exchanging physical greetings, and wherever possible, staying at least 1.5 metres away from others.

CEDA is closely monitoring government advice regarding public gatherings and will follow all relevant health advice from the Australian government in relation to COVID-19.
